Iran presidential election as important as US one for Frontiers – In Iranian politics we (simplistically) define the “Pragmatic” Conservative faction as supporting fiscal prudence, private sector capital, moderate social norms and a gradual détente with the West, and the “Principilist” Conservative faction as supporting fiscal populism, state control of the economy, strict social norms and close ties with Russia and China.
