    Sanctions on additional Venezuelan individuals announced by the US administration on 26 July are designed to put more pressure on President Maduro to cancel his plans for a National Constituent Assembly (NCA) before elections to the body take place this Sunday (30 July). But we don’t think the individual sanctions, and threat of further sanctions, will work.
