Turkey: MSCI index reshuffled

  • Better than expected US inflation data helped BIST 100 to break 4,400 resistance yesterday.

  • We see that the global risk appetite increased significantly.

  • Foreign investors were net sellers again in October with TRY 11,730 mn.

Better than expected US inflation data helped BIST 100 to break 4,400 resistance yesterday. We see that the global risk appetite increased significantly. BIST 100 technically at overbought levels and signaling a correction yet its is likely for BIST 100 to join the global trend in the short term. Foreign investors were net sellers again in October with TRY 11,730 mn. Most sold shares were TUPRS, AKBNK, FOROT, KCHOL and ENJSA and most bought shares were THYAO, SISE, HEKTS, SASA, GUBRF. Foreign share in the market declined to 30,10% levels. MSCI index reshuffled and YKBNK, HKTAS and SASA will be added to standard index and likely to attract inflows from passive funds. There are also additions and deletions from small cap index listed below

MSCI announced the changes in MSCI indexes which will be effective on 30st of November 2022 

Hektaş <HEKTS TI>, Sasa <SASA TI> ve Yapı Kredi <YKBNK TI> will be added to MSCI Global Standard Indexes.

Aygaz <AYGAZ TI>, Borusan Yatırım <BRYAT TI>, Dogus Otomotıv <DOAS TI>, Gırısım Elektrık <GESAN TI>, Kontrolmatık <KONTR TI>, Odas Elektrık Uretım <ODAS TI> , Oyak Yatırım Menkul <OYYAT TI>, Smart Gunes Enerjısı <SMART TI> , Zıraat GYO <ZRGYO TI> will be added to MSCI Global Small Cap Indexes.

Aksa Enerjı Uretım <AKSEN TI>, Coca-Cola Icecek <CCOLA TI>, Gubre Fabrıkaları <GUBRF TI>, Hektas <HEKTS TI>, Jantsa <JANTS TI>, Kızılbuk GYO <KZBGY TI> will be deleted from MSCI Global Small Cap Indexes.

*MPARK TI> bought back 19K shares at an average price of TL71.96 on 10 November 2022. Since 25 May 2022, the total number of shares bought back reached 6.4mn at an average price of TL47.70
