The KLCI fell 8% mom in June 2022, its sharpest monthly decline since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in Mar 2020. The decline was due to rising fears of a US recession, concerns over rising costs and sharp fall in CPO prices. Foreign investors turned monthly net sellers for the first time this year, after five consecutive months of net buying. The best/worst performing sectors in June were the REIT/energy sectors. KLCI had in the past 10/44 years posted positive performance in Jul of 1%/0.6% mom average returns. Key events to watch out for in Jul 2022: MPC meeting on 6 Jul; US Fed Meeting on 27 Jul; Parliament sitting from 18 Jul to 4 Aug 2022.
