Mexico: Banking credit keeps rising, driven by consumer loans

  • Banking loans rose 2.2% y/y in real terms, driven by a higher economic dynamism, not ruling out an impact from inflation

  • Non-performing loans (NPLs) stood at 2.7% of the total portfolio, with a modest uptick in consumer loans

  • We expect banking credit to extend its growth. However, we see risks regarding inflation and higher interest rates
