Ethiopia's 2022-23 Budget

We review the recently approved Ethiopian Government Budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year
Large spending increases are planned for transfers/subsidies (up 9.6x), defence (up 3.8x), and debt service (up 2.8x)
Financing is coming mainly from domestic lenders, which will reduce private sector credit growth in the near-term
