Michael Chang joined CIMB in Apr. 2016 to head coverage of the HK/China financials (banks and insurance). He has over 17 years of experience, with a sell side career covering a multitude of Asia Pacific financial sectors (China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, & Australia) in various global investment banks. He has also worked three years in a financial institution's in-house Strategy and M&A department. Michael ranked third in 2009's Greenwich survey for both Asian insurance and Asian banks and was part of the Asian insurance team that ranked 1st in AsiaMoney in both 2012 and 2013. Michael holds a CFA qualification as well as a double degree Bachelor of Commerce (1st class Hon. in Finance) and Bachelor of Law (second class Honours) from the University of Sydney. Michael's multi-country experience over a career spanning both the sell side and working in-house within the strategy team of the industry that he covers, is relatively unique. It places him in a better position me to see things that others may have missed. This enables him to conduct differentiated relevant research that can make a difference in predicting share price returns.
